How business data licensing works

Describe your records, review them, agree terms, and deliver.

Start with a description

List your tools, record types, dates, and rough counts. Explain what work the records show. No raw files are needed yet.

Note missing details and sharing restrictions early.

Define a sample review

Agree which sample to share, who can see it, and what to remove. Sample access does not give unrestricted rights to use data.

Decide what the sample should show and how it will be checked.

Review the buyer requirements

Confirm the buyer’s task, required details, format, and quality checks. Agree how to handle missing or rejected records.

A description alone does not confirm that the data is available or suitable.

Agree terms before delivery

Name the records, buyer, allowed uses, access, storage period, and payment in writing. Check any model-training rights separately.

Agree delivery and approval steps. The people signing must have the right to grant the permissions.

Keep the delivery record

Record what was delivered, when, and under which agreement. Keep the approved version and checks.

A later update or new use may need another agreement.
